How can we stop coping?

You only aquire meaning from the future.
Structure provides nothing but structure,
the work of an adult.
It would be to repeat over and over again
words carefully chosen for children.
Is there a poetics without peotiry if we say there is?
Can you make another comment
while I judge you
through the haze of value
in dollars payable to internet?
With or without your problem
you know I'm going to be nice to you,
and everybody's watching.

Not Without My Looking

You couldn't possibly have ended up in this spot without looking for me.
Someone did take you,
you're not the victim,
not without My looking,
into the care of the things you do,
the way you do things the things
that enable you to do these things, the
things you think while you do these
things, the things that you get
for doing these things.

(only this half, not the half with the negation)
If you could make it.
If that thing you stood for wasn't
anything other than the historical consequence
of slavery, if you weren't a fucking racist,
all of us.

Customers have to mean something

a compromise with mimesis--
it will get our dNA

from speed on up
It's so easy to say slavery

from speed on up
Everything enables bias

You felt this way because
"You're different."

You only trust in your
ability to kill replicants.

You kind of forgot about
the history of America and metaphors.

Audioblogger sucks

It keeps purposely mis-repeating my phone number to me after I type it in (as its userid).
Then it just hangs up.
Anyway this is the one post that will probably ever work with the system so I guess I'll leave it here:

The belt that you bought was invented to beat slaves with

What if any are the conditions of its meaning?
then fine
You're acting like I still don't know what I'm doing.
This is the purpose of criticism.
It only has to last 100 more years.
That's why the funky voices.
Something's coming from me. I tried, but
this time I won't forget, I'm dead.

<3 Stanazas For Iris Lezak <3

While Mac Low's 22 Light Poems has a better cover, this book (and its acrostic technique) was at the center of a transformation in my interest in poetry. Though I have no conscious connection in my poetry to Mac Low's poetry, the words here liberated from conventional meaning really helped break me of a certain lame view of language. (This lame view of language is the view perpetrated by the novel.) This change obviously can't be linked to one thing, but this is the book that I carried around with me for what I would guess was at least 6 months.

"The Human Situation and Zen Budhism"

To human existence
Human undertaken man a nonetheless,
Subjectivity. In toward understand, and tools, itself or not
As never. Divided
Zen ego's not
Be. Undoubtedly, does deception. However is, subjectivity
(morality),

That hatred ego
However, utterly misgiving-- any nothing
Simply inherent the usually any. The itself often negativity
Avoid negativity. Did
Zen ego Nan-yo,
Before use development disregard however, in sincere means....

This transformation in my feelings toward poetry didn't happen in a revolutionary way or with an epiphany, but in a way I could only describe as lovingly. I don't think of myself as a very lovey person, but I do see a non-judgmental quality of language in Mac Low, a quality that I think helped me separate, in a way, the person "I" am from the words that this person writes.

A Place To Uninhabit

Anything for this is worth nothing.
Yet another place for poetic imagination.
Undo what I tell you.
You are a cartoon character.
You know
of the prophet

Better than skin,
beyond the blogsphere,
into outer space --
an astronaut ready for
astronothing
especially the
advantages and disadvantages of the space program.

Human racism

You make me wanna act like Alan Davies & write sex poems.
I would never talk about your pssy in a poem.
"You couldn't be easier to follow if you had TP on your shoe."

Really it's the
wrong me
all that space on the page
is gendered.
I am capable only to look on in disgust
at bad jokes.
I am not capable of crossing out all those words where the white space is.
It's more distance from describing the distances
I practically own
all the remarks you made.
Practice taking your exam
so that when you take it, you'll take nothing.
Read it over and over so that when
you read it, you read nothing.
Say something glib about something and darkness.
"Paint it black" is an emotion so it'll bounce back.
This is what happened while I was writing a sex poem
I'll try and impose my experience on this crap called language
That's what sex said.

I'll deal with the rampage

Stop coming in and out.
It's like a thing when I tell you how to write
when I say take out something.
When I know you didin't do it
cause of the design, how good it is
you're going to write till the corner and then
turn and write backwards up the page.
You know whose solution this is.
Maybe you can teach me
that doesn't want to work.
I wanna merge my blogs, but I
think I'll have to destroy one first.
Because you're so quiet you'll have
to tell.
All children have this face like they're stupid,
but it's just that they're children.
Make belive I was talking about
the homefront in an essay.
Everytime you see the rabbit it's racism.
I'll trust you not to think.

More Bodies

"The" is too comforting,
if we just start out with terrible things
we'll feel guilty and turn back and
never say the worst of it.
The party line's useful.
You should do your your own exploring.
I could always do everything else right,
why couldn't I just do everything wrong?
There's a time for tea,
is it that broken or can we maybe
just save up or wait around and buy a
new society?
I think you're trying to impress me.
This isn't Depew.
I'm impressed. I'm easy to impress.
I was worried that I knew that we should
take care of it,
of the family, is full of it the're still full of it.
I guess when I thought I told you it
didn't apply, it didn't. But it wasn't
because I didn't have the book of poems in my life.
Who wrote this great composition?
They said that everybody's tough.
I'll fix the copier.

Anti-crime

You don't choose your friends.
I love the reasons why I do things.
Statements made before 1980
are a fundamental
act of cultural mythology.
When I die, tear out my iPod.
